雷蒙德·钱德勒的档案文献就像他的人生一样分隔英美两国：牛津大学博德利图书馆和加州大学洛杉矶分校查尔斯·E．扬学术图书馆。大多数跟他人生经历有关的书信都收录在美国戴尔出版公司发行、弗兰克·麦克沙恩编的《雷蒙德·钱德勒书信选集》（The Selected Letters of Raymond Chandler）以及英国企鹅图书发行、弗兰克·麦克沙恩和汤姆·希尼（Tom Hiney）编的更为晚近的《雷蒙德·钱德勒档案》（The Raymond Chandler Papers）。为了让注释显得尽量简洁，我没有标注任何一封信的具体馆藏位置；如果读者希望获取相关信息，可以给我写信，我的电子邮箱是tom．williams25@gmail．com。
